What stays on this phone.
Drone Max Wind is a static site. There is no account and no server side user database.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics (tag G-PS6NC1HSN3) to see page views and traffic sources. Google may set cookies or use device identifiers for that. Location used in the wind check is not sent to Analytics as a custom event from this site.
localStorage
The last drone, unit preference (mph / kt / m/s), and last coordinates/place name are saved in the browser’s localStorage so the check can reopen quickly in the field. You can clear that by clearing site data in the browser.
Location / GPS
Location is optional. “Use my location” uses the browser Geolocation API. We do not see that permission prompt; the OS/browser does. Coordinates then go from your device to Open-Meteo (forecast) and, for a place name, to BigDataCloud’s client reverse geocode endpoint. City search uses Open-Meteo geocoding.
What we do not do
We do not sell location data. We do not require an email to run a check. Third-party fonts load from Google Fonts. Analytics requests go to Google. Weather providers may see the IP and coordinates of the request, as with any public HTTP API.
